It's crazy what a few days off can do for a baseball team. The #10 Red Raiders have been a little inconsistent to say the least in their last few Big 12 match ups. They have not taken a series from a Big 12 opponent since the Oklahoma series back in April. Tech has dropped games against TCU, Texas, and Dallas Baptist before the week of finals hit.

Now that finals are over and done with, the team could look forward to the rest of their season which will hopefully result in another trip to Omaha for the College World Series. They got off to the right start after defeating the #14 Oklahoma State Cowboys 9 to 4 last night.

Dylan Dusek would be the starting pitcher for the Red Raiders, however he would only pitch two innings before giving the ball to Ryan Shetter. Shetter would pitch 6.0 innings, giving up 3 runs off 3 hits, walking 2 batters and striking out 6, improving to 4-0 on the season.

It would be a 1-1 game going into the top of the 6th inning when the Red Raiders would finally get their bats going, as it would be Michael Davis kicking things off with a monster two-run home run.

Later in the 7th inning, Tech would essentially put the nail in the coffin as with the bases chalked full of Red Raiders, Cody Masters would uncork a bases-clearing triple to make the score 7-1.

That would be all the Red Raiders would need to coast to a victory and improve to 36-15 on the season and 13-9 in conference play.

The Red Raiders & Cowboys return to action on Friday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium at 6:30 p.m. and you can catch that game on FOX Sports Southwest Plus.
