From the opening moments of 3 Doors Down's new album Us and the Night, you realize there's a little something different. It starts with a little electronic moment on the album opening track "The Broken" before jumping back into the upbeat, anthemic rock that fans have come to enjoy. The band has now unveiled "The Broken" for all to hear, so take a listen in the player above.

It's been a time of transition for 3 Doors Down, who've added guitarist Chet Roberts and bassist Justin Biltonen in recent years and really worked with the pair while touring first in support of a greatest hits collection, then stripping things back with an acoustic tour. After getting well acquainted on the road, the current lineup returned to the studio hungrier than ever to record new music.

During a recent chat with 3 Doors Down's Brad Arnold, the singer told us, "It kind of felt like we were getting into a little bit of a rut and this record is not that rut. It’s a fun record. We had so much fun writing it. We didn’t push it. We didn’t hurry it. We almost kind of stepped back into being a baby band. In a good way, you know? We just went back in there like we wanted to write songs and we were hungry to write some music."

The band recorded the album at Nashville's Rivergate Studios with producer Matt Wallace and delivered a more energetic, upbeat album. "We're all excited to release our new album Us And The Night," says Arnold. "It’s truly been a labor of love and we can’t wait to get these songs out to our fans around the world."

Speaking of which, both "The Broken" and the new single "In the Dark" are now available online. You'll receive both songs instantly if you pre-order the Us and the Night album via iTunes. The disc is due March 11 via Universal Republic. Look for the band on tour at these locations.
