By most accounts, the moving of 4th On Broadway to Mackenzie Park was not a popular decision. Evidently, organizers have decided to further study this hot horseshoe.

Last year, the parade, easily the most popular part of the celebration, was moved to Avenue A and East Broadway, then on to Mackenzie Park. This year, marchers will need an extra pair of Dr. Scholls. The parade is backing up to Ave M. over by the Civic Center, then heading to Mackenzie Park. The parade kicks off at 9 a.m.

After the 2015 parade, there were enough complaints that some of the media sponsors felt compelled to address them, most asking that the new format be given a chance. The biggest problem was apparently access, including parking and traffic flow.

Hopefully, organizers have studied this problem, although I don't see how you can get people easily in and out of Mackenzie park. That seems to be the rub: being stuck in the park for an extended time.

I wish the organizers luck; after all, it is a "free" festival. Just make sure you take plenty of "just in case" cash. There's some free parking, but most is $5 (or more).
