Time is flying. We just got past Powerman 5000. Next week, we'll rock some X-Fest 11 and Puscifer. So what about this weekend? Well, there's plenty to do at home and out and about.

This is my first attempt to give you some varied listings as to what's happening in the Hub City. I tried to include a smattering of everything. Live music, sports, and the movies lead the charge.

Check out the cool things you can in Lubbock this weekend, April 22-24.

    The Huntsman: Winter's War

The sequel to "The Huntsman" hits theaters this weekend. It looks like this movie will be visually dazzling. (And who couldn't just stare at Charlize Theron for a couple of hours?)

Just when everything seemed wrapped up in "The Huntsman," the Ice Queen brings her sister back to life so they can have hijinks or something in an enchanted forest.

Oh, and "The Jungle Book" is still playing, so there's that.

One-Eyed Doll & Eyes Set to Kill

One-Eyed Doll shows are more than a concert. It's almost like an interactive vaudeville show or something. Lead singer Kimberly Freeman is a nut, but in a good way. She also rocks in a good way.

Eyes Set to Kill is also a female led band, but I guess that shouldn't matter. How about they're just a great band? Catch them both at Backstage Lubbock Friday night.

    UFC 197

Who's fighting this weekend? Jones vs. Saint Preux. I guess if you're a UFC fan that means something. I've never heard of a single name on the undercard. This lineup looks pretty weak to me, but then again sometimes that's when some stars emerge. Maybe someone will step forward with something to prove.

Acoustic Jam With Red Dirt Rock

Have you ever wanted to play on stage, but just didn't have the time to get a whole set together? Then this acoustic jam is for you.

Red Dirt Rock hosts the jam, with the emphasis on you doing a couple of songs. Play by yourself or play with others, just grab your guitar and come out to The Freaky Tiki on Saturday night (no cover, 21 & over).

    Texas Tech Baseball Vs. Texas

Texas Tech baseball hosts a three-game home stand this weekend against the Texas Longhorns. Friday night the game is at 6:30 p.m., with the follow-up games Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. These should be some real quality matchups.

Texas Tech, as of this writing, is in 1st place, with Texas in a tie for third in the Big 12.
