Someday, Jack White and Paul McCartney may be added to this list, then again, they may not. Even though they are big stars, this list concerns big TOURS. All of the tours listed were big in some way and not only because they made a stop in Lubbock. Enjoy.

    Metallica's Black Album Tour

Metallica played Lubbock on a tour very early on supporting the Black Album. That was the tour that featured "The Snake Pit", a cut out triangle in the stage that allowed a group of listeners to get inside. The thing I remember most about this show as that it was pretty empty.  A year later they'd be one of the biggest things in the world.

    U2's "Boy" Tour

This little show played at "The Rox", home of many great tours, especially during the new wave/punk era. Boy was U2's debut album featuring the classic track "I Will Follow". Sadly, it's the only time they have visited the Hub City.

    AC/DC's Highway To Hell Tour

Believe it or not, AC/DC played Lubbock three times, twice with Bon Scott and once with Brian Johnson.  According to the AC/DC archives, there was even another show sandwiched in there that was cancelled. It's also worth noting that the Brian Johnson show in 1988 happened on Halloween night.  I chose to highlight the '79 Highway To Hell tour over their previous stop on the Powerage tour and their last stop of the Blow Up Your Video Tour because of that albums long term impact.

    FMX Firecracker Five

Let's deal with this straight up, The FMX Firecracker Five was an "Offest" date (as in a day off from Ozzfest). That doesn't mean it wasn't one of the greatest collections of talent ever. Linkin Park, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Disturbed and Papa Roach.  The only name not making music any more is Mudvayne and that's because Chad is now fronting Hellyeah.

Pearl Jam at United Spirit Arena

This was epic because it was the first time that Pearl Jam recorded ever show on the tour and Lubbock was a big part of it. The final song of the show was also used on the "Touring Band 2000" d.v.d. The show was October 18, 2000 and you can still buy the c.d. here.
