Did you ever get in trouble for something really dumb? I did.

When I was in Junior High (Cavazos, to be exact) I got called into the counselor's office for a writing assignment I did. Basically it was a dumb little one sheet that we needed to cram a bunch of vocabulary words into. I crammed my words into a re-writing of an article I read about Mayhem, because I was totally that kid.

Sure, it involved eating your best friend's brain but I stand by my decision. And hey, look at me 8th grade English teacher, I'm here with a professional writing job. Still writing about Mayhem.

Lords of Chaosthe non-fiction book, was mandatory reading for any kid that was really into the punishing sounds of what is commonly referred to as Black Metal- a genre that grew from little hamlets in Norway and Sweden- and spread across the globe.

Lords of Chaos, the film based on the real story of Mayhem, has a week long run at Lubbock's Alamo Drafthouse (120 W Loop 289) beginning February 22nd. It stars Rory Culkin as Euronymous, who looks remarkably like his well know older brother.

If you know the story of Mayhem and Burzum, you know this is going to be a wild, shocking ride. I'll omit them here in case you don't and want a spoiler free movie experience.

For tickets and more information, head over to Alamo Drafthouse's website.
