Swiss artist H.R. Giger has passed away. Not only did he create the design for the "Alien" in the Alien movies, he had a couple of great connections to the world of rock.

So, chances are if you're under say 40, you'd know Giger's work as the designer of Jonathan Davis' mic stand.  Interestingly, Davis had to cut the wings of the design because they were stabbing him in the chest.

Now if you're over 40, you probably know that Davis was not the first artist to discover H.R. Giger. In 1973 his work was used as the cover art for the Emerson Lake and Palmer album "Brain Salad Surgery".
