Sears -- the place you went with your parents to buy everything from socks and underwear, power tools and a washer and dryer set. But these days, you could hear a pin drop in almost any Sears location. And now, Sears' days could be numbered.

According to multiple news outlets including the Detroit News, CNBC and CNN, the struggling retailer may not survive much longer. A recently filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission reveals that Sears lost $887 million dollars in 2016. That's a lot of cash to lose!

Sears and Kmart are both part of the same company, and as most of you know, Lubbock lost its only Kmart location late last year. (The building is still up for sale if you need a lot of space at a bargain!)

Sears had no problem making fun of itself a few years ago in how it advertised that there was always plenty of parking. Check out this classic commercial:

What is the fate for Lubbock's Sears location? Who knows. But as of now, it's business as usual with no plans to close.

Will I be sad if they close in the future? Probably not, but at least there will be plenty of parking for the movie theater!

If something changes with Sears, we'll let you know all about it.
