I went to Austin this September, and while it was lovely, beautiful and fun, it just wasn't weird. Unless you consider massive gentrification, income inequality and vulture corporations feasting on the corpse of the music and arts culture weird. Then it's totally weird.

I may be exaggerating a little, but you get my point. Austin is pretty normal, really.

But has weird crawled off into a cave to die? Nope, not at all. It crawled off into Lubbock where it's being born anew, much like a baby Groot. And Exhibit A is this gentleman, who is colorful both in shorts and dirty potty-mouthness:

Apparently, this guy hangs out around 50th and Q and sometimes J&B. I have so many questions, but I'm dying to know: What is the antennae for?

With a blossoming arts and music scene, a major University and a reasonable cost of living, Lubbock is in a key position to be the next hub of the awesomely strange. Perhaps a new city motto is in order? Lubbock: Weirder Than Your Hype
