It’s been a rough couple of days for Biohazard, with bassist/vocalist Scott Roberts being rushed to the hospital last night (Jan. 20) at the start of the band’s ‘Persistence Tour 2012′ in Deinze, Belgium.

First things first. The band issued details about Roberts and his health issues on its Facebook page, revealing that he spent the day in the hospital getting all sorts of tests, but miraculously didn’t miss the gig. He played the show and returned to the hospital to continue medical tests. That’s what we call hardcore and “down for life,” to borrow a phrase from the band.

The band’s initial post on the matter is as follows:

“So we arrive in Belgium and Scott is rushed to the hospital. After spending the whole day getting tests done to no avail, he checks himself out of the hospital to make the show just in time to KICK F—ING ASS and help us blow the roof off of Deinze! That’s the crazy vegetarian hardcore dude he is! After the show, he’s rushed back to the hospital! Anyone else would had canceled the tour! SCOTT ROCKS!” The band adds, “Scott is still in the hospital, but judging by his hardcore spirit and having Biohazard blood in his veins, he’ll beat this s—! Get ready, Oberhausen!!”

The band issued another update today (Jan. 21), revealing that the prognosis is still undefined.

“We don’t know. He’s sick as a dog and they can’t [find] out what it is??? Catscans, MRI’s…the whole 9 yards, still no word. He was rushed back to the hospital last night after the show. send your prayers, he needs them!”

A more recent update stated that things are still unclear regarding Roberts’ condition. It read as follows:

“Still no word on what’s wrong with Scott!!! Send your prayers!”

Loudwire is certainly sending best wishes out to Biohazard and Roberts and hope that he is quickly cured of whatever it is that’s ailing him.

The band also canceled a planned free download of new album ‘Reborn in Defiance’ designed specifically for U.S. fans so that they could enjoy it at the same time as the rest of the world. The album dropped yesterday (Jan. 20) in Europe, while a domestic release date has yet to be determined. Biohazard’s explanation of the download delay is as follows, and was also posted on their Facebook page.

“We regret to inform you all that due to circumstances beyond our control, we will not be able to offer our new record ‘Reborn In Defiance’ in the U.S. at this time. We love all of you who have continued to support us through the years and can’t wait to share with you a record that we are extremely proud of. Thank you so much for your understanding and patience and a special thanks to our partners Revolver, Repudo and Google for their hard work setting this up. All of our touring plans are still solidified and we are excited to see you all out on the road!”
