Blink-182 are digging into the mindset of their “young suburbia” with a new song called “Parking Lot” that’s part of their upcoming deluxe edition of the California album.
The high energy rocker is driven by Travis Barker‘s relentless drumming and the passion of Mark Hoppus and Matt Skiba as they reflect on going to shows in their youth, name checking the likes of Naked Raygun, the Smiths and the Violent Femmes along the way. The lyric video for the song can be seen in the player above.
As stated, Blink-182 are planning a deluxe edition of California, but it’s not a simple “tack on a few songs” collection. The band have included 11 brand new songs on the deluxe edition, along with an acoustic version of their breakout hit from the California album, “Bored to Death.” The California deluxe edition will be available everywhere on May 19.
Drummer Travis Barker says, “We just felt like making more music so we jumped back in the studio. It started out as three or four songs but we ended up with 12 that we were all excited about.”
And if you like what you heard from “Parking Lot,” you can pre-order the deluxe edition album right now at Blink-182’s website and you’ll get an instant download of the track. There is also a four-color vinyl edition available that may also be pre-ordered at their website.
Blink-182 are currently on tour with U.S. dates booked into early May and European shows to follow this summer. See their current itinerary here.
