The Rangers and Houston Astros both made the two "better" teams look worse on Thursday night, as the Rangers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-3 and the Astros defeated the Kansas City Royals 5-2.

Both teams were able to stagnate the offenses of the higher-seeded teams, as both Texas teams played on the road to start things off. Game 2 of both series will take place tomorrow in Toronto and Kansas City.

Yovani Gallardo's arm steered the Rangers to a victory, while Collin McHugh's arm limited damage to just Kendrys Morales, who hit two solo jacks for the Royals.

How 'bout our Texas teams?!
