Customers at certain Lubbock restaurants are now being charged an extra 2 percent on their bill -- a surcharge added due to Obamacare.

The surcharge -- called the "Surcharge Tax Affordable Care" -- has already been implemented at Buffalo Wild Wings and Las Brisas and will soon be added to bills for customers dining at Mama Fu's Asian House.

Howard Restaurant Group Marketing Director Samantha Spitzer pointed the finger at the Affordable Care Act, saying that the company's restaurants have added the surcharge rather than increase prices on food items or cutting employee hours.

"Due to the Affordable Healthcare Act and its requirement of healthcare coverage to all full-time employees, our restaurant group has decided instead of cutting employee hours and raising food and beverage prices, to implement a two percent surcharge on all guest checks to offset the cost of the federally mandated employee healthcare with the least possible impact to the consumer," said Spitzer.
