When I woke up this afternoon, I had every intention of sweating out last nights fun by doing some yard work. But when I opened the door and felt the heat, I decided to crack open a cold one, crank up the A/C, hit the couch and watch the boys of NASCAR rumble through wine country in Northern California.

Clint Bowyer drove a good race all day and held off Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch to post his first victory on a road course at the Toyota Save Mart 350 in Sonoma, California. The win was the first of the season for Bowyer and the first trophy of the year for Michael Waltrip Racing.

Jeff Gordon ran out of fuel early and would battle back to finish 6th.

NASCAR moves from the wine country to the blue-grass of Kentucky next Sunday.
