I cooked pancakes with our congressman a couple weeks ago. He was a fair flipper at best, but he got off his rear and gave it a shot. He just did the political equivalent with local Democrats.

Arrington sat down with local Democratic leaders for a round-table discussion (THIS, more of THIS) this past Saturday.  You see, back in the day, the people we sent to Washington used to be referred to as "representatives", as in "representing people from their area". The fact is, no politician should just be a vote for the winning side of the political fence, they should do what they think is right for their district.

Arrington's willingness to sit down and listen to other ideas gets a huge thumbs up from me. Heck, he may not let it affect one thing he does in the future, but listening to each other is a huge, huge start.

Now, I don't agree with everything Mr. Arrington has done lately. Dismissing town hall discussions as "political theater" shows a real lack of understanding of people's newfound willingness to get involved, but his meeting Saturday was a bold and companionate move.
