The tributes continue to pour in after the untimely passing of Scott Weiland. The latest comes from Slipknot's Corey Taylor and the star-studded tribute act Royal Machines. Together, the band performed the Stone Temple Pilot hit "Sex Type Thing," which sees Taylor adopt Weiland's infamous low croon.

Letting out a "Go!" after the hi-hat count-in, the band tears into the classic with pounding, anthemic drums anchoring the serpentine rhythm. Forgoing Weiland's gyrating stage moves, Taylor does a fine tribute to the late frontman. Royal Machines gave an enthused performance at the Roxy in Los Angeles. The band consists of rock veterans Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction, Camp Freddy), Billy Morrison (ex-the Cult, Circus Diablo, Camp Freddy), Donovan Leitch, Chris Chaney (Jane's Addiction, Camp Freddy), Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray, Camp Freddy) and legendary session drummer Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle).

Back in 2011, Corey Taylor directed some disparaging words at Weiland, calling him "a lazy piece of sh-t" while performing one of his spoken word bits. While discussing how nobody dares to take risks anymore and always choose a safe and calculated creative move, he slammed the singer for releasing his Christmas album.

Scott Weiland died on Dec. 3 while on tour with his solo outfit Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts. He was discovered by his personal manager, who quickly called police. When police arrived, they pronounced the frontman dead. After obtaining a search warrant, authorities searched the band's bus and found cocaine in Weiland's bedroom as well as the room of bassist Tommy Black. Arrested on possession charges, Black was taken into custody but has since been released "pending further investigation." A toxicology report from Weiland's autopsy is expected to be out in four to eight weeks.
