Sound City is a recording studio where a VERY LARGE chunk of rock and roll history was made. It was the ultimate destination for anyone who wanted to record.  The Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac, Rage, REO Speedwagon, Johnny Cash, Neil Young and many, many more recorded not just albums, but landmark albums at Sound City.  Dave Grohl brought many of the legends together in this documentary about this legendary studio  and it’s almost mystical mixing board (artists can be insane about using certain boards in certain places).  The film comes out in February and due to the star power involved probably be nominated for many ‘best documentary’ awards.  Check out the trailer here:

As part of the movie process, some bands recorded their “musical memories”, here Weezer express their love for Quiet Riot.

Here’s Timbo from Rage Against The Machine talking about KISS and Punk Rock
