December 8th: The Day The Music Died II
December 8th is a dark day in music history. On this day in 2004 Dimebag Darrel was shot and killed. On this day in 1980 John Lennon was shot and killed. There’s even more tragedy associated with this day.
When you think about, there’s only 365 days in (most) years, that means that many anniversaries are shared, even the bad ones. On this day we not only had Dimebag and Lennon taken from us, it was also the day that Vince Neil that was in a horrible drunken driving crash that killed his friend “Razzle” of the band Hanoi Rocks (I’ll reserve comments on this tragic day).
We made a decision long ago that we would no “recognize” the deaths of musicians on FMX, we would instead celebrate their birthdays. Having a blog allows us to remember the musicians on the day of their departing that makes it easy to avoid if you find this type of information too depressing.
If you’re up for it, here’s a few videos to serve as tribute to these lost rockers.
