The lights are both classic and new, nostalgic and exciting, and lit for the first time this past weekend. They hail a resurgence of downtown Lubbock and are a collaborative effort on the corner of 1212 Avenue J.

A joint effort between The Tornado Gallery, Lubbock Arts Alliance and Reagor-Dykes Auto Group featured a dramatic display in the windows that span the corner of the old Hemphill-Wells building, according to Everything Lubbock.

The neon signs on display originally hung on Lubbock's downtown buildings in the 1940s, 50s and 60s. The display also features canvases from that former downtown heyday, as well as vintage cars.

Lonestar 99.5 went downtown to take some pictures of 1212 Avenue J. You can see some of them below and more in the video above.

In building toward a resurgence for downtown Lubbock, it's exciting to see businesses pulling together, and honoring our history while growing into our brighter future.
