Well this is certainly disgusting. Wait until we reach into this grab bag of gross and spell it out for you.  It's not the raw eggs that are the problem either.

You may have heard that you shouldn't eat raw dough due to the fact that it's often made with raw eggs, which could contain salmonella.  Things just got double bad, as the FDA is warning you may have an E. Coli problem with your flour. So how about that E. Coli? The FDA warns it could give you bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps (also the name of two of my favorite metal bands).

This report somewhat singles out cookie dough, but it's flour that's really the problem. Evidently grain from the field isn't really cleaned, or at least not that well. So if a cow poops on the grain, you just might get some poop covered grain.  10 million pounds of flour were voluntarily recalled in May, but officials warn that it may not just be one brand.

Officials are especially warning that you should not let your kids play with the raw dough. Even if you can keep them from noshing on the dough, there's still a lot of hand to mouth action happening among kids.

As with most food problems of this sort, the best defense is to cook your food. That's it. Just don't eat it raw.
