First off, we have found a temporary solution to the skipping sound that has been annoying so many people. We're good now, and we have stuff on order to get even better.

Radio stations have these things called STLs. I believe that is shorthand for Studio Transmitter Link. If that's not the translation, then it sure is the definition.

These little devices shoot the music and entertainment from our studios to the transmitter, where it's spread out all over our listening area. We had our STL go bad and are now on a backup.

STLs aren't like a part on your car. Due to the possibility of misuse, they are regulated and licensed. You can't just buy one, no matter who you are. You have to go through a process. So here we are, in the middle of the holidays, ours goes on the blink and there's no one around to OK a new one.

Most people who listen to the radio now won't even know we're on backup at this time. Only those with finely tuned ears and high-end audio systems will be able to tell the difference. Rest assured, even they will be happy soon as the new equipment is on order.

If nothing else, please remember to download the FMX app in whatever app store you have access to. Just search for "KFMX." Our transmission online was unaffected by these problems and many of us just streamed the station outright or into our other players.
