In late 1980 early 1981 a friend and I took a suicide run from Lubbock to Orange County California.  We drove about 18 hours, stayed about 18 hours and returned (I really loved those kind of trips).  Among the few stops we made in L.A. was to an independent record store.  More after the jump.

L.A. around that time was at the height of the punk rock revolution. We picked up albums from Black Flag, The Sex Pistols, Adam & The Ants and The Dead Kennedys.  The Dead Kennedys "Fresh Fruit For Rotten Vegetables was a revelation to me.  It was no doubt what Nirvana meant to other people in the 90's.  It took raw back to raw aggression and I loved it.

Fast forward to 2013 and I'm just stumbling across the web and I found this version of my favorite Dead Kennedys song as covered by The Foo Fighters and Serj Tankian.  All I can say is, Serj is a perfect fit.

Just in case you want to know where "stage diving" came from, check out this video from 1981

And here's the original, non remix version
