Forget The Venue, The Crowd Can Make Or Break A Rock Show

Facebook

Better late than never… On Wednesday, I gave you a run down of the venues in Amarillo, Lubbock, and Midland where the Otherwise, Papa Roach, and Stone Sour tour made stops, today I will give you a run down of the crowd, and tell you which town, (in my opinion) had the best crowd.

It had been at least six months since I had seen any of these bands, so I was ready for a rock show, question was were the rest of the people in attendance ready to rock?

From the look of the line Friday night when we pulled up to the Azteca Music Hall in Amarillo, I had no doubt that at the very least there were people who at the very least wanted to check out a rock show.

As Otherwise took the stage the crowd was a little slow to get started. This was the bands first performance here and maybe the crowd was just holding out to make sure they were worthy of their cheers. Whatever the reason, it quickly solved itself and the crown began to wake up.

By the time Papa Roach took the stage there was no holding the crowd back, these people were definitely into this show! Everywhere I looked I saw people jumping, singing, moshing and crowd surfing….

No question these people came to this show to party!!

On to Saturday, I arrived at the venue early and there was already a line of people waiting for the doors to open.

I didn’t even have to wait for the show to start to know these people were here to rock out! One thing about Lubbock rock shows, the people who show up early are hard core, and their energy is contagious!

Moving on to Midland. My original thought was the crowd was at a disadvantage, after all it was Monday, THE Monday after the “Big Game” no less.

This crowd didn’t have a chance to even come close to the other two in my opinion.

Was I ever wrong! We actually got to the venue a little late, but to my surprise there was still steady flow of people entering the venue.

As soon as the lights went down and the crowd started to roar, I knew either everyone was still drunk and celebrating from the weekend, or that this group of people were ready for a kicking rock show, which is exactly what they got!!!

So much for narrowing it down and picking the best crowd, all three were awesome!
