Chances are most of you reading this weren't alive the last time there was a full moon on Christmas.  The last time this happened was 1977.

Here's a weird coincidence for you, 1977 was the year the first Star Wars came out (but it was in March). So it's more of a year thing than a date thing, but it's weird that the two things most people will talk about this next couple weeks are Star Wars and the Full Moon On Christmas.

NASA explains the full moon on Christmas this way:

Since we are living in dark times, we decided to light up the moon so Santa will be able to see your house. The bright light of the moon will also make Rudolph's nose unnecessary to guide Santa's sleigh, which is convenient because he's still getting over being winged by a hunter from Michigan last year.

Man those scientists can do anything!  (Okay, maybe it wasn't NASA who said that, but I bet they would if they could)

Okay seriously, those of you who weren't writing "Slayer" on your books in history class may know that George Washington used a Christmas Full Moon to light his way as he crossed the Delaware.
