This commericial makes a pretty compelling case for marriage equality. It shows some Fort Worth police officers speaking out in favor of a gay colleague.

Chris Gorrie is a police detective and as everyone points out, he makes the same sacrifices as everyone else. The commericial also targets that fact that Texans do believe in freedom and that Chris deserves the same freedom.

I got to go along with this (I don't think that's a surprise to anyone). I've been a supporter of marriage equality for a long time.  Think about it though. This guy puts his life on the line everyday, he solves crimes, and he, presumably, pays taxes and is a good citizen. Why shouldn't he get the rights that everyone else does? You don't have to "understand" or even "agree" with marriage equality in order to see that fair is fair.  Until the day the constitution is replaced by the bible, he deserves to be free and equal to do what anyone over the age of consent is allowed to do.

This commercial began running in large markets in Texas this past weekend.
