It's no secret that on occasion we get the V.I.P. treatment.  Last week we were hustled into Steak And Shake at 10:30 in the morning (I usually have my lunch at 9:30).  Had I known they opened at 10:00, I would have been there earlier.  I guess the time is kind of important to know right now, because you can't hardly get within a block of the place around lunch or dinner.

This is a picture of me and a baby. Ordinarily I'll have a baby or two for lunch, but I went to Steak And Shake instead.

If you ask me, Steak and Shake is about two things 1. Value and 2. Service.  First off let's talk about the value. For about $3.99 you can get a double cheeseburger and fries. What?  That's right. $3.99 and they serve it to you at the table.  The burger is a little smaller than what you are used to from say Burger King or Whataburger, but they are good.  The burgers come with shoestring fries and you can get them customized if you wish.  I'm more of a big slice/ homestyle fries guy, but I thought the fries were a nice change of pace.  All of this and a nice waiter or waitress brings it all to you and makes sure you're doing alright.  It's a pretty darn good deal.

What about those shakes?  Well they're huge (at least when served inside).  They'll run you $2.99 and MORE THAN take care of any empty space you had in your belly.  At the end of the day, if you're doing the double cheese (available in triple if you want) and a shake you're going to walk away fully satisfied.

Right now, as with most new Lubbock restaurants, this place is being SLAMMED.  Still I recommend a visit inside.  As good as this food is to go, it's really about the "old time burger joint" kind of experience.   I can also tell you that plans are for one to three more locations in Lubbock coming soon.  Our local location is at 5012 Milwaukee and does business 10a-10p.  Hopefully they'll adapt that national midnight menu and start doing 24 hours at some point!
