Who's ready to get down with the devil? Will you be Beezle-boogieing down on October 27? Think twice before you enter the world of Ghost.

They've toned it down just a bit, but if you ask the members of Ghost if they are a satanic rock band, you'll get an answer real close to 'yes.'

To get to the real answer, one has to have a bit of a world view and read between the lines.

Let's start with Satanism. First off, chances are almost everyone reading this don't understand the concept. Today's Satanists rarely believe in a devil or anti-Christ. Their core is usually a non-belief in god, or a personal belief in self (as practiced by the political group "The Satanic Temple"). The truth is, the word "Satan" is just used to poke fun at religion itself.

Ghost carries these anti-religion/pro-satanic messages off in their music and live show. The band's encore song, "Monstrance Clock," actually finishes with this refrain:

Come together, together as one / Come together, for Lucifer’s son

Nothing too hard to understand about that, huh? So let's look at the lyrics from their current radio hit, "From The Pinnacle to the Pit":

You are cast out from the heavens to the ground
Blackened feathers falling down
You will wear your independence like a crown

You see how they blend that Satanic imagery with a message of personal empowerment? It goes a bit deeper than this, but in order to get to know Ghost, you have to look at the band and their songs as a whole and not necessarily by a small snippet of lyrics.

One of the band's Nameless Ghouls explained that in their native Sweden, the default position is secular, and not religious. So when that message comes across in the U.S., it tends to be a bit more controversial.

In short, if you go to their show expecting to be offended, you will be offended. If you go to have a good time, you'll have a great time.

Ghost will play the Lubbock Auditorium on October 27. Premium packages and meet and greets are available online (pricey, but you get a lot of stuff). Standard tickets are also available online. There's really not a bad seat in this place, the sight lines are pretty much all good.

We'll see y'all there.
