Friday the 13th's reputation as an unlucky day most likely goes back to tales of The Last Supper. However, even though there were 13 at that table, somebody had to serve and hand out napkins and stuff, so I'm guess there were a few more people around.

There are a few other mild historical occurrences that attribute bad luck to the day, but there is nothing verifiable out there that proves that it is unlike any other day.

Of course, Friday the 13th is the day Jason Vorhees' mom, and eventually he, returned back to Camp Crystal Lake. I guess it was unlucky that those camp counselors all got hacked to death. Consider this fact though: Before Jason made everyone into human steak tartare, most "got lucky." I know more than a few people who would trade an early violent death to be naked with hot counselor chicks.

I tend to think of Friday the 13th a completely different way. I turn the holiday upside down. It's my thought that if everyone else is unlucky, then someone has to be lucky and that might as well be me.

Let's be clear, there are a lot of people on edge on Friday the 13th. Also, there are a lot of people who will blame any little problem on the fact that it's Friday the 13th. That's kind of a trick your mind plays on you, remembering the bad stuff that happens on a Friday the 13th when much worse stuff probably happened to you the day before or after.

I think we should all settle on one thing. Friday is the beginning of the weekend, and there's NO WAY that can be bad.
