There are all kinds of scammers out there. For instance, at lot of times when you see one of these religious memes that says "type amen before you scroll", you are actually participating in "like farming".  Marketers get a bunch of people to like something so that it'll get great reach then replace that original content with whatever they wanted to really push in the first place.

We've all had someone friend us who is obviously not a real person, but I had one Monday night that was especially creepy. It was from an attractive female who graduated "Texas Tech" but the profile was really strange. All it was was a bunch of check ins at local businesses. Looking closer, the check in times were really weird. Who checks in at a Yoga place at 3:30 in the morning? Looking close, there were three check ins at Yoga places (all different), two tanning salons (both different) one local boxing establishment and one local and one chain restaurant.  Nothing else, just check ins at local businesses.

I don't know if the page was created by a bot or by a marketer who is looking to friend a lot of people so that they can surreptitiously advertise those businesses with the check ins. I hope these businesses will realize that this is no way to do business.  I have no problem with paid or promoted post (in fact I use them) but to try to do it through a fake friend is just sleazy.  And that friend, just got defriended.
