I think we've all seen reports of floods in some areas like New Orleans where coffin's literally float down the street. Apparently we have the opposite happening in Lubbock.

According to KCBD, we have a problem with some graves actually sinking into the ground. Think about it, our soil is usually so dry that when it gets wet, it retracts. It also looks like a few tombstones may have sunk as well.  This has lead to some very unsightly graves.  The report comes from Slaton and the solution is pretty simple, just put more dirt on them. That doesn't mean it doesn't look like some real Night Of The Living Dead stuff, because we all know that graves only sink when the dead rise (or when it rains)!

I'll personally have none of that meat-in-a-box treatment. Cremate me and use my ashes to level off some of these other graves.  I am truly sorry if the grave of one of your loved ones has been disturbed. You might want to pay a visit to check it out.
