Some Lubbock restaurants have already weighed in on openly carrying firearms into their restaurants, and they're against it. What makes this interesting is that bars, or restaurants that serve a little more alcohol than food, don't get a choice, it's automatically banned. So the question is, where do you draw the line?

The line is obviously drawn when booze enters the equation. The law says that booze + guns is a bad idea. Nowhere does it say stupid + guns is a bad idea (and we've yet to find a way to measure stupid).  So you can see a dilemma here. We assume people drinking make bad decisions, but we don't accept that people make bad decisions when they're sad, angry, or even on medications.

This brings us to the point at hand. I'm sure some places will allow open carry, so how will you react?  If you walk up to something like a smartphone store, and see people inside with rifles, are you going in? If you go into a convenience store and you see someone who is obviously not a cop, are you going in?  These are the decisions that you have to make after January 1st.  Me, I'm gonna pass. I don't care if they are "good guys with guns" trying to protect us, I kind of think the crossfire would be the worst of both worlds. That's just me though, there are plenty of places around to serve those who are for, against and ambivalent about this.
