Since their start in the early '90s, In Flames have seen many musicians come and go, but bassist Peter Iwers has enjoyed one of the longest tenures in the group. However, after 18 years of keeping down the low end, he's ready to step away for good.

Iwers revealed in a posting on the band's social media sites that he is exiting the band to pursue other endeavors. However, some fans will still have the opportunity to see the bassist in his familiar spot with In Flames one more time as Iwers stated he will continue with the group through their current U.S. tour. His statement on his exit can be read below.

Friends, I have decided to leave In Flames to pursue other endeavours.

As a result, this current US tour will be my last one with In Flames so if you are around, come and say hi.

It has been almost 20 years of fun and I am eternally grateful to you all for all the support you have given me and the rest of the guys throughout all these years.
You made it all possible.

Now is the time for me to move on with other musical and non musical adventures.
I wish the very best to Niclas, Anders, Björn & Joe.

Hope to see all you Jesterheads down the road in my future endeavors.

May the force be with you

Sincerely,
Peter

Iwers took over on bass with the band's 1999 studio album Colony. He then appeared on the albums Clayman, Reroute to Remain, Soundtrack to Your Escape, Come Clarity, A Sense of Purpose, Sounds of a Playground Fading, Siren Charms and Battles.

In Flames are currently on tour in the U.S. Dates for their run, which will be the bassist's last with the band, can be found here.
