In This Moment's Black Widow tour has been one of this fall's premier rock tours. The band's stop in Lubbock, Texas Thursday night (Dec. 11) showed exactly why Maria Brink and co. have become major players in the rock/metal scene.

Opening the show was Minneapolis, Minnesota's 3 Pill Morning, followed by the eclectic Aussies of Twelve Foot Ninja.

Starset took the stage at the Lone Star Pavilion next. A perfect preface to the darker theatrics of In This Moment, the band donned space suits that seemed straight out of the movie "Prometheus."

Finally, Maria Brink and In This Moment took the stage to near-deafening applause from the Lubbock crowd. The singer's style is inimitable, with costume changes and a new motifs presented throughout the set. Brink's two especially flexible female performers complimented her theatrical and commanding performance.

Brink has called the new music on In This Moment's "Black Widow" album her "woman side" -- a nod to her evolution as a songwriter. That evolution was evident Thursday night.
