I was fortunate enough to see and visit with Halestorm on their first ever national tour date.  Lzzy was the cutest and certainly gave off more of a bratty little sister than rock star vibe.  Later I saw her skipping up the walkway (who skips?).  Anyways, I've been there for this band since day one.   In that time their riffs have got harder and sharper and Lzzy isn't shy about showing those long legs in her short shorts or leather pants.  As of this moment, she is literally the female face of rock.

Now I'm told that the band may be making a bigger play for the country audience. There's a bit of background to support this too  Lzzy completely wowed the CMA's when she guested with Eric Church. The band then went on tour opening for Eric Church.  It's not a hard stretch to believe that they may try to put one foot in both worlds on their records too.

I am told that half new album will be rockin' and the other half MAY sound like a lot more like their ballad "Here's To Us" (but with a little twang).  There's no doubt that a lot of today's country sounds influenced by 80's rock and Halestorm has always given me that vibe too.  I can't really take issue with them making a jump; you go where you can get paid. The problem is, when you try to please everybody you often disappoint everybody.  Then again, it's kind of a singles world these days, so what does it matter what the album as a whole sounds like?  Aaron Lewis took this route and took a lot of flak for it from the rock crowd, but even then, he did it on his solo project, he didn't turn Staind country.  I personally think the biggest loss if they "go country" is the loss of Arejay. Hale to the rock world. He's simple one of the best, most entertaining drummers out there and he doesn't need to spend half a show clicking his stick against the top of the snare drum.

Anywhoo, this is all speculation, but it does bring up some questions. Do you feel betrayed when your favorite bands move to a different genre?  Will you judge the new stuff song by song or dismiss it outright?  Did you already not like the band, or do you consider this heartbreaking news? I'd love to hear your thoughts on our Facebook page.
