We have been working hard on building for another year at Nightmare On 19th Street. We are over by Mackenzie Park which puts us near lakes, creeks, wooded areas and of course a lot of tall weeds.

It was just last Saturday night that we went "hey, where are all the mosquito's?"  We've had a random one here and there but they're usually unbelievably bad. They get so big that we name them and put a bell around their necks so we can hear them coming. We have been spraying ourselves since the beginning of summer and just now notice there really wasn't a reason to.

Sure we're grateful for this, but it also makes us wonder where they are.  Are the city's eradication efforts working, and if so, why are they working this year and haven't in the past?  We used to get them so thick that you could reach out your hand, make a fist and come up with a ball of dead mosquitoes.  We would spray three or four times and still get bit.  Now, no spraying, no nothing. You would think after such a wet year that they would be worse than usual.  We did notice one other thing though, a crazy amount of grasshoppers.

So what's up in your neighborhood? Do you still have mosquito problems? Have you noticed any difference at all this year?
