I was very happy to see something cross my feed called "Boot The Ban". The organizers are trying to get the outdated blue laws involving liquor off the books.  Well, it's about time.

When I first came to Texas there were entire areas of stores taped off on Sundays. You couldn't but stuff in those isles because of Texas Blue Laws. These laws were put in place by or for the benefit of church folk.  For some reason the act of buying a frying pan on a Sunday was ungodly (seriously, that's just one of MANY items you couldn't buy on Sundays). We eventually came to our senses and realized that these old religious taboos were just stupid and not in line with modern society.  Still you can't get booze on a Sunday and beer is only available from noon to 9 p.m.  None of these laws make an sense and it's been proven time and time again that access has little to no effect on abuse.

It's 2015. People don't all work Monday through Friday 9 to 5.  We've got people who work all night or only have certain days off. They should all have the same quality of life as the rest of us. I don't want to hear whiny "what about the children" or "family values" or "the downfall of society" b.s. The scare tactics don't work anymore.  The facts have spoken.  Expanded sales does not mean expanded drinking. It only means convenience for those who do drink.
