If you're a tow truck driver, Xmas in Lubbock must coincide with football season. It is absolutely insane how many cars get towed during home football games. The problem is, Texas Tech has always had a parking problem year round.

I find it hilarious that a school that offers a degree in engineering can't seem to get the math together to take care of it's students and fans. Local businesses and residents have every right to tow.  Most businesses don't turn a profit unless customers can come and go freely and a car in one of their spaces can put a serious cramp in that. Then there are the fans who get frustrated and fudge a little just hoping their car or truck will be there when they get back.  It all makes for a frustrating game day and an antagonistic relationship between football fans and the people trying to do business.

One would think that Texas Tech could find a way to ease the situation.  You would also think it could be profitable as well as a good will gesture for their fans.  It appears the few people who open lots in the area get $20 a carload and they're just not that close. I would think people would pay even more to have a closer proximately to the games. I guess this is all pie the sky thinking because I've been in Lubbock 30 years, and to my knowledge only two parking garages have been built in that time, one that I believe is for faculty facing 19th street and that structure that is on the other side of Jones Stadium (and I think it may or may no be privately owned).

As each day goes by, the parking and traffic around Tech get worse. It's inevitable. It's one of the schools jobs to increase enrollment. The least they can do is step up efforts to make sure those students have a place to park and to also make game day better for the fans.
