We have the technology, we've seen problems all over and it's time to make this happen. First off, I'm not a cop hater. My favorite uncle taught firearms for L.A. County for decades (because of this, he also taught all the classic Hollywood actors how to shoot). So, in short, I have no problem with police.

The great thing about the body cameras is that they work both ways. They work as proof when a cop is misbehaving and they work to prove when force is justified. There's just no downside to this technology. Yes, it costs money, but so do lawsuits. These cameras could be saving us time and money because there's very little time spent disputing facts when they incident is on camera.

The only thing I don't like about the cameras is that just wearing one presumes that the police need this type of supervision. It's my hope that they'll realize that the cameras work for their protection as well. They will also work towards inspiring public confidence in the police. I just believe we have everything to gain and nothing to lose by making these cameras a mandatory piece of equipment.

I don't know where we sit in terms of local or regional implementation for these cameras, but it's something that should be fast-tracked as soon as possible.
