You may or may not have known, but for the last 11 years, kids were banned from bringing certain foods, based on their nutritional value, to schools.  Yesterday the incoming Commissioner Of Agriculture for Texas declared "amnesty for cupcakes" as his first official act.

Technically, since 2004,  a kid couldn't bring cupcakes (cookies, candy or other sweets) to share with the class. Commissioner Sid Miller announced that the rules have been repealed giving local communities more control.  Federal rules still apply to food sold at schools who participate in the National School Lunch program.

So here's the question? Did you break the law? Have you sent extra sweets with your kid to school?
