Yeah, there are so many different puns to choose from with a blog like this. It was tough. Anyways, here's some food for thought based on a meme I saw a listener post.

I usually only post stuff like this on my personal page, but what the heck, maybe it will help some folks here too. You've probably heard the word "Dogma" and not thought about it too much, or really dissected what it was and what it means.  The definition in Google Search came up as

You've probably heard the word "Dogma" and not thought about it too much, or really dissected what it was and what it means.  The definition in Google Search came up as

"a principle or set of principles laid down by an authority as incontrovertibly true"

Now usually "dogma" is only used when talking about religious things. For instance, in Catholic dogma, you'd believe that communion is necessary.  We can take this completely out of the religious field though with a silly nursery rhyme, 'Girls are sugar and spice and everything nice".  Well, after a bit that becomes dogma for little girls. It pigeonholes them. Why can't girls be resilient and strong or silly or anything else?

What I'm getting to here is that dogma is "laid down by an authority". You know what that means?  You're not living your life, you're living the life someone else wanted you to live. That's fine and dandy if you've taken the time to examine it and decide if that's truly how you want to live, but you are carrying around another person's baggage when you accept their dogma without question.

Hey, I'm just a doofy d.j., but I can tell you that you'll be a much happier person if you stop living for other people and start living for yourself.
