Jessica Jones Season 2 details have been hard to come by, what with Season 1 plumbing the comic character’s most recognizable stories, and Marvel slotting Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders in between. Now, Jessica Jones boss Melissa Rosenberg offers a bit of new intel, including multiple villains to follow Kilgrave, and an evolving dynamic with Trish.

Take this all with a grain of salt for the moment, as Jessica Jones Season 2 is likely to begin filming in 2017 after production on The Defenders, but Rosenberg offered a few notable tidbits to Entertainment Weekly of the changes afoot. For one, where any actor would have a tough time filing the void of David Tennant’s Kilgrave, Rosenberg may subvert that with several major antagonists:

How do you top a villain like Kilgrave? What can you say of figuring out who will be the new antagonist?

Or antagonists, plural. No one is ever going to beat David Tennant as Kilgrave, so you don’t do that. The biggest mistake would be to try to repeat that. You just go, “OK, we’re not doing that, so we have this open to us.”

While a similar tease was made to TVLine:

The bar was set so freaking high — David Tennant has no equal — so I’m not even trying to go there. The biggest mistake I could make is to try to repeat that. So it will be a very different kind of antagonist… or antagonists.

But that’s not all! Even as we’ve seen Rachael Taylor likely training for a role in The Defenders, Rosenberg hopes to begin Jessica Jones Season 2 with the pair on more of an even keel, even as Jones starts to envy the normalcy and heart that Trish enjoys:

I’m interested in continuing to explore the relationship between Trish and Jessica. That is the core relationship in the piece. It is about female friendship, it is about how friends evolve — they’re sisters, really — and it’s about how they evolve and ping off each other. I’m interested in relationships, whether they be romantic, or family, or friends, or professional — that’s what’s interesting to me, is Jessica in relationship to people.

There’s significant stones left unturned between here and Iron Fist, let alone Jessica Jones Season 2 in 2018, but what villain(s) could conceivably follow Kilgrave?
