The Lubbock Police Department is investigating an incident involving a man who reportedly smashed his vehicle into a woman's vehicle twice.

According to Everything Lubbock, 20-year-old Jonathan Fernandez and a juvenile passenger were arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a bizarre situation Thursday evening that authorities have so far declined to call road rage.

Police were alerted to the situation when a woman and a man flagged down an officer on Quaker Ave.

According to the pair, Fernandez had pulled his car next to theirs at the South Loop and University access on-ramp, blocking their access. After the woman was able to get on The Loop despite Fernandez's efforts, the passenger in his car reportedly threw a beer bottle at the victim's car.

The woman said she then got off The Loop at Quaker Ave. to get away from Fernandez, but he followed her and rammed into her vehicle's driver's side. She continued to try to escape, but said Fernandez then pulled up to her passenger's side and again rammed into her vehicle.

Fernandez was located and questioned about the incident. According to police, he said he was the victim of the incident. Due to the type of damage found on his vehicle, police didn't believe him.

Fernandez was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center Friday afternoon and is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
