It was a walk on eggshells all day long for drivers, as almost everyone had problems 20 laps into their run on their Goodyear tires. Kyle Busch prevailed after a long day on a rough California backstretch.

Perhaps the best cars of the day, the #48 of Jimmie Johnson and the #24 of Jeff Gordon, ended up falling short, as Johnson had a tire erupt with nine to go and Gordon couldn't make much happen on the short run bursts.

Multiple drivers uncommon to the front of the field as rookie Kyle Larson got his best finish of the year in the runner up position, Brian Vickers finished seventh, and AJ Allmendinger finished eighth.

Next week the drivers head over the the Paperclip in Virginia, Martinsville on Sunday, the 30th.
