B.B. King is so influential, he's been featured on rock radio twice. That's kind of big deal when you think about it. Of course, I'm talking about semi-modern rock radio. When B.B. started out, his stuff pretty much was blues inflected rock.

B.B. King is ailing now, and is said to be in hospice. He is 89 years old and to be frank, for his health to turn around would be nothing short of a miracle.  B.B. played a part in two of my favorite songs from the past and I thought this would be a good chance to salute him.

First up is B.B.'s track from U2's "Rattle & Hum", the incredibly powerful "When Love Comes To Town".

Next up was B.B.'s sample on a novelty hit from the band Primitive Radio Gods.  The song had the very long title of "Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth With Money In My Hand. This track dropped in 1996 and was popular in part because it was in the movie "The Cable Guy" with Jim Carrey.

Here's the "studio" version of "When Love Comes To Town"

I feel like I have to give you a bonus track too.  B.B.'s biggest solo hit, the smoky blues of "The Thrill Is Gone".
