It's a big day for Linkin Park. The band has been in the studio for months working on a new album and today we get the first taste of new music from their forthcoming disc, One More Light, which we now know is due May 19. The group just debuted the new song "Heavy" via a Los Angeles radio station KROQ, and that's just the beginning of what's to come today.

The song, a more melodic track, features guest vocals from Kiara Saulters (aka Kiiara), and finds the band utilizing the talents of pop songwriter Emily Wright, who has penned hits for Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Flo Rida. A lyric video for the song can be viewed below:

"One of the reasons we picked 'Heavy' as the first single is because it's kind of core to the sound of the album," Mike Shinoda told KROQ during his visit. "This isn't like a polka album with one song that sounds like this. This is how the album sounds." Shinoda also revealed that the band has already started booking dates in Latin America, Europe and Asia, but there will be more dates announced as well as some special events.

You can also hear the band performing the track online later today. The band has scheduled a Facebook Live event, set to take place today at 12N PT/3PM ET. You can watch it live in the player below. You can also stream and download "Heavy" at this location and there are also bundle pre-order packages for the album available here.

What do Linkin Park have in store for fans during the Facebook Live event? We do know that there will be a performance of the new single "Heavy" and that more surprises are promised. Linkin Park recently revealed the cover art for their new album earlier this week, but what else will happen during the Facebook Live event. You'll have to tune in to find out.

Update: During the Facebook Live event, Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda, Chester Bennington and Brad Delson were in attendance along with special guest Kiiara, who sang on "Heavy." "It was so fun making the song," says Shinoda, while Bennington adds, "She took it to another level, because it was awesome before she came in on it and then it became like a no-brainer for the first single." During the event, the band and Kiiara performed the track live from their studio. Shinoda and Bennington also spoke more in depth about the writing and recording of their new album. During the 30-minute session the band fielded questions from fans and also played a stripped down version of "Burn It Down." Check it out in the video at the top of this page.
