Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, who, along with Governor Greg Abbott has sued the U.S. Government over transgender guidelines, has decided to start a fight in his own backyard.

Here's a funny thing: the Fort Worth Independent School District has had some form of a transgender policy since 2011. Yep -- NO PROBLEMS since 2011...until Lt. Gov. Patrick found out about it.

Now, he's asking the Texas Attorney General to rule on the policy.

I want to dissect this because it's important. Fort Worth, AKA Cowtown U.S.A. and the supposedly more redneck part of the Metroplex, has had some form of this policy in place FOR FIVE YEARS with no problems. That more than proves this issue was already handled and that the school district doesn't need the involvement of a politician trying to suck up to his base by pulling it apart.

This "issue" doesn't seem to be working for our Texas higher-ups. They are currently being roasted in Texas and across America. Lt. Gov. Patrick's luck wasn't any better today as parents protested outside the state capitol, one going as far as claiming that Lt. Gov. Patrick's actions are endangering the life of her child.

I'm not big on conspiracies, but this "issue" seems like it was dreamed up in a backroom for conservative candidates to use as gas for their campaign engines. It's not working. Most agree it's a non-issue that all of us have already spent too much time on.
