Lubbock Police responded to shots fired just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning (May 13) in the 1800 block of Buddy Holly Avenue.

Police said that shortly after officers arrived on scene, they were notified that a gunshot victim had just arrived at University Medical Center.

Police said it appears that two groups of people got into a fight in the 900 block of 18th Street. As the fight was breaking up and people were getting in their vehicles to leave, someone fired a weapon multiple times. A back passenger in one of the vehicles was struck by a bullet.

The 25-year-old male victim had serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers have not yet located the suspect.
