Lubbock's Alamo Drafthouse (120 W Loop 289) will host a showing of The Last Temptation of Christ as part of its ongoing Film Club series on November 18, 2018.

Last Temptation was extremely controversial when it was released in 1988 for being "blasphemous"- thousands of protests were staged and some major movie chains refused to show the film in their theaters. Many prominent directors of the day defended Martin Scorsese's vision, and today the film is largely regarded as an incredibly important and moving work of art.

The film stars Willam Dafoe as Christ, Harvey Kietel as Judas, along with many others- but my personal favorite is David Bowie as Pilot.

Alamo's Film Club offers cult, indie, foreign language and more 'alternative' film selections along pre-show introduction with a film expert and a post-film discussion with the audience. For tickets, head over to Alamo Drafthouse's box office or their website.
