A Lubbock man is back in jail after threatening a woman who tipped police about a homicide he was involved in.

KAMC News reports that Oscar P. Cerna was arrested for Retaliation after a woman came forward claiming he had threatened her via text for "snitching" on his son.

Cerna was arrested in November 2017 on a felony Tampering with Evidence charge, while his son, 23-year-old Oscar D. Cerna, was charged with the murder of Jacob Wayne Duffee.

Duffee had went missing from Levelland back in September 2017. His truck was found abandoned days after he went missing, and his body was eventually discovered near the end of October.

A past relationship between Cerna and an unnamed woman had ended before the incident, and the woman tipped police on Cerna’s involvement in the homicide. According to the arrest warrant for Cerna, after he discovered what she had done, he repeatedly called and texted her saying that he was going to take her daughter since she took away his son, and other similar messages.

The threats began on March 24 when Cerna called the woman and asked "How could you do this to me and Oscar?" After the first call, the threats escalated to the point where the woman and her daughter packed up their belongings to leave their house.

Cerna was arrested and is being held on a $260,000 bond.
