March Metal Madness 2012: Round 2 – Vote Now!
After an array of incredibly tense and well-fought battles during Round 1 of Loudwire’s March Metal Madness, Round 2 has launched and is now ready for your votes. With a new batch of tough decisions presented, we’re one round closer to finding the greatest heavy metal song of all time.
Within the Devil Horn Region, Black Sabbath‘s ‘Paranoid’ defeated ‘Refuse/Resist’ by Sepultura. The victory moves Sabbath into a battle against Van Halen‘s ‘Runnin’ With the Devil,’ which managed to beat out Marilyn Manson‘s opus ‘The Beautiful People.’ Also, we’ve got a war for ‘Big 4′ supremacy as Megadeth‘s ‘Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?’ takes on Slayer‘s ‘Raining Blood.’
Moving into the Moshpit Region, Motley Crue pulled out a close but impressive victory over Anthrax, resulting in a faceoff between the Crue’s classic ‘Shout at the Devil’ and the AC/DC anthem ‘Back in Black.’ Alice Cooper also moved mountains to defeat ‘Rock and Roll All Nite’ by KISS. The win has allowed Cooper to march into battle with fellow Round 1 victors Iron Maiden.
The Headbanger Region now hosts the only new-school metal band left in the entire competition: System of a Down. The Los Angeles quartet were able to take down Rage Against the Machine during their Round 1 battle, moving onward to face Metallica‘s ‘Master of Puppets.’ We’ve also got a classic battle between Ozzy Osbourne‘s ‘Crazy Train vs. Pantera‘s ‘Walk’ in Round 2.
Finally we have the Stage Dive Region. The old school completely out-gunned the new, with Judas Priest defeating Cannibal Corpse and Alice in Chains overcoming modern metal giants Slipknot. The dual victories have brought the Judas Priest classic ‘Painkiller’ head-to-head with Alice in Chains’ ‘Man in the Box’ in Round 2. The legendary Lemmy Kilmister and Motorhead also prevailed in Round 1, marching onward to face fellow winners Guns N’ Roses.
Get to the polls and start voting in these insane duels to find the greatest heavy metal song in history. It’s March Metal Madness!
